Open-ended play

Every touch is rewarded. Flip a switch and a lamp glows. Turn the key and an engine coughs to life. Press the launch button and a rocket counts down to liftoff. Sound, motion and light answer right away, and the world out the window answers too: a cow wanders across the field, a whale spouts beside the boat, an octopus waves through the submarine's window.

There's nothing to win and nothing to lose. No scores, no timers, no levels and nothing to read: just the joy of trying something and finding out what happens. Little discoveries grow into little stories, as children explore cause and effect, how machines work, and the fun of figuring things out at their own pace. It's made for children up to about four, and for the grown-ups who can't resist a big red button.

Free Included

• Tractor

  Start her up, lower the plow and follow the crop rows. Honk to shoo the cow along.

• Race car

  Watch the start lights, launch, and chase the rivals round the track to a finish full of fireworks, confetti or balloons.

• Airplane

  Flip the preflight switches, spin up the propeller and take off over the fields, past geese and a hot-air balloon.

Adventure Pack In-app purchase

• Boat

  Ring the telegraph, turn the ship's wheel and sound the foghorn. Drop the anchor and see what comes up with it. Dolphins, a whale and seagulls come to visit.

• Spaceship

  Lift the guard, press the big red button and count down to liftoff. Fly to the Moon, Mars or Saturn, wave to a passing UFO, then parachute home.

• Submarine

  Dive beneath the waves to the sound of the klaxon. Meet fish and an octopus, bring up treasures with the claw, take pictures with the sub's camera and spot ships through the periscope.

• Fire truck

  Roll out of the firehouse with the siren and bell, put out a smoky leaf pile, raise the ladder for a kitten, and stop for a duck family crossing the road.

Made for little hands

• Little moments Start-ups, a launch countdown, a dive: small bits of drama that build up and settle, and are never required.
• Real, but idealized Cockpits that look real, and loved: chunky switches, scuffed paint, gauges that move. All original designs, with no brands.
• Gentle on ears The sound is capped below full volume, and a grown-up can turn it down further or off.
• A window on the world Tip the device and the world outside shifts behind the dashboard, like the view through a window.
• Anywhere Plays offline: in the car, on a plane, at Grandma's.

• No ads, no tracking No accounts, no analytics and no third-party code. Tractor Playground collects no data at all. Read the privacy policy.
• No sales pitch No links out of the app and nothing aimed at your child: a locked vehicle just gives a friendly wobble.

• Free to download. The tractor, race car and airplane are yours to keep, with or without the Adventure Pack.
• Behind a parental gate. The Adventure Pack, Restore Purchases and the sound settings live on the Grown-ups page. To open it, press and hold the Grown-ups button for about a second, then answer a grown-up question. Ask to Buy works too.
